A message from Avis Glaze

The centrality of the role of the principal in education has been clearly established. As educational leaders, they are strategically positioned to create positive learning cultures, shape the direction of their schools and ensure that students learn and succeed.

Principals influence the life chances of students and ensure that excellence and equity co-exist in their schools. They engage in holistic education practices, teach, model and insist upon universal character attributes. Against this backdrop, The Avis Glaze Education Letters will highlight the issues facing principals today, elucidate leadership issues, offer perspectives that challenge, engage and support principals in their work. They will also help to clarify the issues and demands that principals face, contribute to possible solutions and develop new insights.
